Stoke-on-Trent's Tourism Superstar
We were so proud of Olivia Thackstone, Front of House Manager at World of Wedgwood for being shortlisted as one of 10 finalists for the 2020 Tourism Superstar competition! The 2020 edition of VisitEngland’s Tourism Superstar award is the ninth year the competition has been running and is run in partnership with the Mirror newspaper. The award recognises and celebrates those in the tourism industry who go the extra mile to ensure tourists in England have an amazing and unforgettable visitor experience.
This year's overall winner was Lorry Middleton from Hovertravel, Isle of Wight - Congratulations Lorry!
MEET OLIVIA - OUR TOURISM SUPERSTAR
Olivia is passionate about her work at the World of Wedgwood ensuring that visitors have a fantastic experience during their visit to the attraction and to Stoke-on-Trent. She is a fantastic ambassador for the city and never misses an opportunity to sell the wider destination and the fantastic range of attractions across the city.
Olivia has been particularly supportive of the Stoke-on-Trent Cultural Destinations Project and has been passionate about helping to disperse visitors from World of Wedgwood around the rest of the city.
Olivia describes herself as a complete history buff and is completely committed to ensuring that visitors understand the significance and impact of Josiah Wedgwood and his entrepreneurial spirit and the effect this had on Stoke-on-Trent’s culture and heritage. She is also a registered Blue Badge Guide and in 2019, and always goes the extra mile to help Visit Stoke and the Stoke-on-Trent Cultural Destinations Project to encourage visitors to Stoke-on-Trent.
