Canals
We are lucky enough to have two canals running through Stoke-on-Trent: the Trent & Mersey canal and the Caldon canal.
The canals provide a great facility for a trip in a narrowboat, or simply walking and biking along and Stoke-on-Trent's Heritage Canoe Trail makes it really easy to paddle along!
There are many attractions situated near to the canal network including the World of Wedgwood, the Trentham Estate, Emma Bridgewater, Portmeirion, Stoke Minster, Spode Museum Trust Heritage Centre, Middleport Pottery, Etruria Industrial Museum, and Festival Park.
The canals also pass through some of our beautiful outdoor spaces including Westport Lake and Hanley Park.
Hire a narrowboat for a short break or day trip from one of the local operators to enjoy a truly relaxing break on the water. Black Prince Holidays, Heritage Narrow Boats, and Canal Cruising all offer fantastic narrowboats available for hire.
Download the Canal & River Trust's Little adventures on your doorstep guide to Westport Lake or go to https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/explorers to discover lots of fun things to do with the family.
