Christmas at Trentham

Christmas at Trentham officially opens today as the award-winning gardens have seen a dousing of Christmas magic with a beautiful illuminated trail that gives visitors an opportunity to experience the historic landscape in a different light.

Christmas at Trentham, which runs until 1 January, features awe-inspiring illuminations and installations that accentuate the flora and fauna of the gardens and landscape, and bring the night to life as they thrill the senses, transporting you to an enchanting world of light and colour.  

As soon as you enter the gardens you will be wowed by crossing a bridge covered in beautiful sparkling fairy lights before following a pathway that leads to a beautiful panoramic view of the lit gardens and the trail of discovery that awaits. Follow the clear signs and be directed by the friendly staff around the gardens and take in lots of amazing different light displays which provide unbelievable photo opportunities...

Walk through The Trellis of Light where thousands upon thousands of twinkling fairy lights pick out the structure of the 100m long historic rose trellis.

Stop and admire the huge Trentham Christmas Tree which is made from thousands of fairy lights and topped with a beautiful sparkling star.

Take a stroll down The Rainbow walk where sweeping pulses of colourful lights catch your feet.

Stop for a photo with everyone’s favourite - Perseus, who is surrounded by reflected rays from multiple mirror balls. Skip through The Funky Footpath where pulsing shapes of spinning colour and light greet you, leading you up the garden path. Admire Colourtivation which sees pulses of colourful lights sweep the ground and up into the tree. Discover a variety of illuminated woodland creatures as you take a magical walk through a winter woodland of Festive Flora & Forna before being greeted by The Loggia lit up in all it’s splendour.

Follow the walkboards through the Laser Glade - an immersive, hidden garden with brilliant beams of laser light filling the air.

Step into the formal gardens and up into the stars with the Stars Garden and then follow the walk past Trentham Church and the Italianate splendour of Trentham Hall that are brought to life in a wintery Son et limiere style with bold washes of colour and shape.

Finish the trail by having a photo on The Love Seat where vintage style lightbulbs twinkle and pulse to create a beautiful moment of warmth and calm beneath the branches of the tree.

Every corner that you turn, you’ll be amazed as you see the illuminated landscape from different angles. Dotted around the trail you’ll find festive food and drink to warm you up on a cold evening. As well as being the perfect event for a family gathering, a meet up with friends, or a romantic stroll with a loved one, dogs are also allowed on a lead, so you can also treat your four-legged friend to a festive treat too!
